It hit like a tidal wave; Kiara hadn’t expected all her emotions to come back at once but when they did it came with a sense of the darkest form relief known to man. She didn’t know where it came from, but the throbbing headache that she had been experiencing for the past four days vanished almost with the blink of an eye. Her internal debate with herself about whether she should try and contact any number of her “friends” (if that’s what they were considered) and make sure they were okay was forgotten as if it was nothing but a distant memory.
She didn’t think about the fact that there was a sleeping figure curled up on the opposite end of the couch, she didn’t think about the possibility of rudely waking him up; all she thought about was the sudden freedom of being herself. Her eyes flashed black and an almost demonic grin spread across her lips as he felt her teeth evolve to fangs then fall back to normal. That temporary curse of being nothing more than a mere human was over and she felt more alive than she had in several days.
And so, jumping to her feet almost without any line of thought leading up to it, Kiara was across the room and pulling on her jacket. She dug around through piles of junk for her wallet even though she would never use it; shoving it in her pocket when she found it. Hurrying across the room to the bathroom and focusing on fixing her hair in the mirror, Kiara decided that she was going out. She was herself again, she had absolutely no inhibitions holding her back, and she was ready to tear up the town. Maybe she’d even take Bo or her ‘temporary sister’ out with her, she was feeling that good about being back to normal.
Until a small grunt emitted from the sleeping form on the sofa and caused Kiara to poke her head out of the bathroom door. He stretched, adjusting how he was positioned on the small couch, and she couldn’t help but smile. That smile turned into a sigh of defeat though as she dropped her brush to the floor with a clank and walked out of the small room, her jacket being pulled off and thrown back onto the chair it had previously decorated and her wallet being tossed after it… Tearing up the town would have to wait.
Kiara had hoped that her emotions would disappear when she was back to herself, but if they had… If Kiara didn’t have a real conscience anymore… What was that little voice that was trying to tell her that leaving him there alone wouldn’t be right?
