Kiara grunted when her phone buzzed. She wasn’t in the mood for dealing with anyone for any reason. But she couldn’t ignore it forever and she knew that. The reach from her perch on the couch to where the phone lay just a few feet away seemed like a mile - a mile of her whining and mumbling about ‘why do people have to text me when I’m so fucking tired?’. Soon enough, the phone was in her hand and she was scrolling through the messages to see what she had missed.
Something from Sonny.
Something from Kai.
Jon said hey.
Wow she had slept through a lot.
One message caught her eye though. It didn’t have a number listed next to it and that was the part that intrigued her the most.
For someone that relies on everyone around you for financial help, there’s probably one thing that you keep on you but never look in too often. Maybe there’s something there finally?
Kiara stared at that blankly, for all she knew that message could have been speaking a different language and it would have made just as much sense. “One thing wha–?” She asked, reading over the message a few times before it clicked. Her wallet. What else did she have that she didn’t have much use for?
Jumping to her feet and bounding over to the counter where she had lay her wallet when she went to bed, Kiara tugged it open and started rummaging through it. Change compartment first, that would be the easiest place to hide something - nothing but a few pennies there. Next came the interior. The pockets contained nothing but her normal pile of already maxed out cards – wait. Something caught her eye as she pulled open the paper money section of the wallet. Sure enough, there was an envelope. She ripped it open with no hesitation and sat and stared at the writing on the pass in her hand. Disney World.
Shaking her head in disbelief, Kiara smiled. Sonny would choose Disney, wouldn’t he?
Well, maybe it would be a good distraction from what she had going on in her life. After a moments hesitation, she set the wallet down and finally took a moment to pull off the engagement ring. No better time than Disney to start over again.
